THIS IS THE BEST THING ON THE INTERNET AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED

Caption from LIFE. “In the canopied bed where she has slept since childhood, Judy cuddles her son Dylan, who was born in late February. ‘My son may have been unplanned,’ Judy says, ‘but he is not unloved.’”

Here, a 1971 LIFE story on teen pregnancy.

only 6 notes tho -_-

ignorance is bliss

I absolutely love this. It’s real. It’s a simple cartoon that explains the truth.

The things that Black people (or any minority) have tend to get “whitened.”

Very few notes, because only some very bold white people would actually reblog.

Yes, learning about this right now in my global societies class.

I’m very stupid b/c it took me a while to get it. But yes, this is great

My mom has so much potential to do something amazing. Not that being a mom isn’t amazing, but I feel like if she didn’t have kids and never got stuck in the god-awful marriage, she could have become something extraordinary. She is an amazing cook, she went to culinary school, but dropped out because she was having a kid. She has such a sharp mind, when we’re watching a crime show, for example, she sort of talks to herself and talks about the motives, she guesses what will happen next, what this and this symbolize. Most of the time she is right. She is so intelligent, but was never able to hone her skills. She was always held back. It’s just a shame.

She is cultured, her knowledge of music from the late 1950’s back is pretty incredible. We sit in the car and listen to the classical music station and make a game out guessing what composer wrote what. My specialty is Mozart and Chopin, hers is Bach and Beethoven. Thanks to her I familiar with the greatest jazz artists, opera singers, classical composers. She is a rare breed nowadays. She belongs with the aristocracy of some culture that has been nearly wiped out. There are few like her. People write her off as an idiot, I think. Because she is very loud and boisterous and she states her opinion on things unapologetically. She is above most people, I think. She really, really knows how to live. That’s why I love her so much.
